Free email checker
Type an email address and find out in a second whether it is well-formed, whether its domain can receive mail, and whether it is a throwaway or shared address.
What this checker looks at
The checker runs the same first-line checks our API uses on every address. It confirms the address is correctly formed (including international domains), looks up the domain's mail servers (MX records) in live DNS, compares the domain against a list of over 120,000 disposable-mail services, flags role accounts such as info@ and sales@, and suggests a correction when the domain looks like a typo of a popular one, like gmial.com for gmail.com.
Each address gets a score from 0 to 100 and a clear reason, so you can see why it passed or failed rather than just getting a red or green light.
What a green result does and does not mean
A valid result means the address is properly formed and its domain has working mail servers. It does not prove the individual mailbox exists, because this free tool never contacts the mail server; it only reads public DNS. The full MailSure checker asks the mail server whether the mailbox exists.
That is still enough to catch the majority of bad signups: typos, made-up domains, throwaway addresses and domains that have stopped accepting mail.
Checking more than one address
To clean a whole list, upload a CSV to MailSure and get every row back with a status, score and reason. To check addresses as people type them into a form, use the API or the WordPress plugin. Every account includes 100 free verifications a month.
Frequently asked questions
- Is this email checker really free?
- Yes. There is no signup and no credit card. We limit how many checks one visitor can run per minute and per day so the tool stays fast for everyone.
- Does it send an email to the address?
- No. Nothing is sent. The checker only looks at the address itself and public DNS records for its domain.
- Why does it say valid for an address that bounces?
- Because it checks the domain, not the mailbox. A well-formed address at a working domain passes even if that exact mailbox has been deleted. Mailbox-level checking is more involved and is not part of the free tool.
- What is a role account?
- A shared address such as info@, sales@ or admin@. Mail to these goes to a team, so engagement is lower and spam complaints are more likely, which is why we flag them as risky.
