Disposable email checker
Paste an address to see whether its domain belongs to a temporary-mail service such as Mailinator, Guerrilla Mail or 10 Minute Mail.
What is a disposable email address?
A disposable (or temporary) address is one that anybody can create in seconds with no signup and that is thrown away after a few minutes or days. People use them to get past a signup wall, claim a free trial more than once, or avoid marketing emails.
For a business they mean fake accounts, wasted trial credit, skewed metrics and a mailing list full of addresses that will never open anything. They also hurt deliverability, because many of those domains are quickly blacklisted or turned into spam traps.
How the check works
We compare the domain against a list of more than 120,000 known disposable-mail domains and against wildcard rules for services that rotate through subdomains. The match also covers parent domains, so an address on a subdomain of a known throwaway service is caught too.
New disposable services appear every day, so no list is ever complete. The most reliable approach is to combine a blocklist with a confirmation email for anything that looks unusual.
Blocking them at signup
The MailSure API returns disposable: true and a suggested_action of reject for these addresses, so a signup form can refuse them in real time. If you run WordPress or WooCommerce, the MailSure plugin does this for registration, checkout and the common form plugins without any code.
Frequently asked questions
- Should I block every disposable address?
- For free trials, coupons and anything that costs you money, yes. For a newsletter you may prefer to accept the signup and simply not send to it. The right answer depends on what a fake signup costs you.
- What about privacy relay addresses from Apple or Firefox?
- Those are not disposable in the same way: they forward to a real inbox and the person can be reached. They are not on our disposable list.
- Can a good address be flagged by mistake?
- It is rare, but a domain that is reused by a legitimate company after a throwaway service folds can sit on a list for a while. If you spot one, let us know.
