Terms of service
Last updated 5 November 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and MailSure ("we", "us") for the MailSure email verification service. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them.
1. The service
MailSure checks email addresses and reports whether they appear to be deliverable. You can check single addresses, upload lists and use our API. Each check returns a status, a score and the reasons behind it. See the API documentation for the details.
2. Results are an assessment, not a guarantee
Email verification is based on public DNS records, lists of known disposable domains and, where available, the responses of the receiving mail server. Some mail servers do not reveal whether a mailbox exists, and the information we rely on can change at any time. We work to make results accurate but we do not guarantee that an address marked valid will receive mail, or that an address marked invalid or risky will not. You remain responsible for how you use the results.
3. Your account
- You must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract. If you sign up for an organisation, you confirm that you may bind it.
- Give accurate information and keep your password and API keys secret. You are responsible for what happens under your account and keys.
- Tell us promptly if you think your account or a key has been compromised.
- One person or organisation may not create multiple accounts to get extra free credits.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- upload or check addresses that you have no lawful right to process, for example lists obtained through unlawful scraping or breaches
- use the service to send spam, to harass or to commit fraud, or to break any law, including privacy and anti-spam laws that apply to you
- use the results to harvest or enumerate other people's addresses, or to learn whether specific individuals have accounts elsewhere
- exceed rate limits, disrupt or overload the service, or try to bypass credits, limits or security measures
- resell, sublicense or provide the service to third parties as a competing service without our written permission
- reverse engineer the service, or copy its lists, except where the law allows
We may suspend or limit access immediately if we reasonably believe these rules are being broken.
5. Your data
You keep all rights in the lists and files you upload. You give us permission to process them only to provide the service to you. You promise that you are entitled to upload them. How we handle personal information is described in our privacy policy.
6. Credits, free tier, plans and packs
- Credits. One credit is used for each address verified. We do not charge for malformed addresses, for duplicates or blank rows in an uploaded list, or for results we report as "unknown" (we could not reach a verdict). Credits for rows that were not checked are returned if a list is cancelled or fails.
- Free tier. Every account receives 100 free verifications each month with no payment details needed. The free allowance is renewed monthly and unused free verifications do not carry over. Free credits have no cash value, are not transferable and may be withdrawn if we find abuse.
- Subscriptions. Plans include a monthly allowance of verifications and a limit on simultaneous API requests, as shown on the pricing page. The allowance is renewed with each successful payment and unused verifications do not carry over. Prices are in US dollars. We may change prices or plans for future billing periods and will tell you in advance.
- Credit packs. You can buy credits in one-off packs without a subscription. Pack credits do not expire. When you verify, the free monthly allowance is used first, then your subscription's allowance, then pack credits.
- Lists are deleted. Uploaded lists and their results are deleted automatically 30 days after upload, or sooner if you delete them.
7. Payment and cancellation
Payments are taken through PayPal. Subscriptions renew every month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the Billing page, and the cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. There are no contracts and no cancellation fees. If you switch plan, we start a new subscription and cancel the old one once the new one has been paid. If a payment keeps failing, PayPal may suspend the subscription and the plan ends.
Except where the law requires otherwise, or where we agree to it in writing, amounts already paid are not refunded and unused monthly allowances do not carry over. If the service fails to work as described because of a fault on our side, contact us and we will put it right or credit you fairly. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under consumer protection or electronic transactions laws that cannot lawfully be excluded.
8. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the service available but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error free. We may update, change or discontinue features, and we will give reasonable notice of changes that significantly reduce what you have paid for.
9. Intellectual property
We own the service, its software and its lists, and give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use it under these terms. These terms do not transfer any of our intellectual property to you.
10. Our liability
To the extent the law allows: the service is provided "as is"; we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit, lost data, damage to your sender reputation or loss that arises from your use of the results; and our total liability to you for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for fraud or gross negligence.
11. Ending the agreement
You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time from the Account page, which also cancels any active subscription. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if we are required to by law, or on reasonable notice if we stop providing the service. Sections that by their nature should survive (such as 5, 10 and 12) will do so.
12. General
- These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and its courts have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory rights you have as a consumer.
- If part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- Failing to enforce a right is not a waiver of it.
- We may update these terms. We will give notice of material changes, and using the service after the change means you accept it.
- These terms and our privacy policy are the whole agreement between us about the service.
